The success story of the Marvel cinematic universe and its impact on culture (part 2)

“Dr. Strange” raised important questions of belief in oneself and in the world, questions of perception of reality and how it can be influenced. It is impossible to leave aside the visual part of the film tearing down the roof, breaking ideas about space and time, too. And this visual feast, supported by juicy action and philosophy deep enough for such a film, strongly distinguishes the picture from the General background.Flirting with kosmooperami continued in the sequel “Guardians of the galaxy”, which was crossed with a family drama, and the third “Thor”, which after a rather tedious second film blossomed simply psychedelic. Released a sequel to “ant-Man”, also strongly pressing on family relations.

The third phase began with a crossover-it was “the First avenger: Confrontation”, screening one of the largest events in the Marvel universe, the civil war. The lack of rights to the x-Men sold by Fox at the time prevented Marvel from using them and achieving the desired scale, but the film still continued to add drama and seriousness to the film comics. A year ago, the second crossover of this phase was released — “Avengers: infinity War”, an ultimatum picture showing that even the coolest superhumans can eventually lose. And now came the final part of this epic length of 11 years and 22 films, ” the Avengers: the Finale.” A three-hour magnum opus, pulling knots, firing guns hung back then, at the beginning of the decade, closing gestalts and causing waterfalls of tears for many fans.In it the humanity of all the characters reached the climax. No matter how strong you are, no matter what skills you have, you can still break down, give up, or, conversely, hold on and humanly stubbornly continue to fight. The finale wasn’t a superhero movie. There is enough absurdity in it, but it is presented simply as logical holes, not logical holes in a bright wrapper. The huge intensity of passions, evenly smeared throughout the timekeeping thick, oppressive drama make it a film about people who are simply in some ways stronger than the average earth dweller. An interesting point is connected with the voice acting. There is no music in the first half of the film. Generally. It appears only when active movement begins, when there can say, hope.

Is it possible to call the film a perfect denouement of a ten-year theatrical series based on comics? It is difficult to say. We won’t have another. But this is a movie comic, full of plot holes, and all the logical slack gives huge opportunities for speculation and fan theories, so that every viewer can eventually come up with anything and put together his version. After all, there are several parallel universes in the original comics — so why not create them in the minds of movie adaptation fans as well?”The Avengers: Finale,” which launched in the world on April 25, is already breaking a variety of records. For the first weekend of rental in America alone, the film collected 357 million dollars, and the world’s fees approached one and a half billion in just seven days.

I am grateful to Marvel that they decided on this risky experiment. Thanks to them, comics have turned from entertainment for a handful of fans into an important element of modern popular culture, into a special cultural medium, and have received additional development. Thanks to them, teenagers showed more love for science. Thanks to them (and not only them), touching on the acute social themes of sexism, racism, poverty and responsibility, these problems have come out of the festival film program on the big screens. Thanks to them, the linear conveyors of sequels began to give way to more branched and thoughtful universes. Thanks to them, millions of people from all over the world were able to feel involved in the common history. I, unfortunately, was in the end superfluous on this holiday of life, could not appreciate all the drama inherent in the “Finale”, and take all the decisions of the writers as close to my heart as my neighbors in the cinema, sobbing in certain moments. But still, I’m glad that Marvel took a chance — and did not lose.
